Long ago my wife and gave birth to, two what was determined to be gifted – special needs children and we were not prepared to understand what we needed to do. We jumped in and found that there was the ability in that school district to have a “School within a School” where they could be part of the kids and neighbors, and not isolated away from everyone else. This allowed a degree of normalcy. There just needs to be abilities for all children to reach their full potential. This need to allow cream to rise to the top, using this analogy, should be the American way. Our daughter became a Classically Trained violinist and has given the world her two kids with perfect pitch, award winning instrumentalist, who had every door opened to allow them to reach their full potential. We don’t know what the potential is of anyone, or if they will take the initiative themselves to strive to become the best person they can be, whatever it is, but we should not have roadblocks in their way. School Choice and allowing the State Per-Child allocation of funding to track each child is a way to let cream to rise to the top for the future of our country, and Americans.

“I was surprised at the professionalism of the staff, apparently many are college student interns. These people take research seriously. They want to know the facts behind public policy issues. The information they have is eye-opening. Talk to Steve Buckstein or John Charles. They have solid info.
In particular, ask about light rail or minimum wage or about current issues or ballot measures. These folks lean Libertarian but they seem to back up their positions with lots of research. They are well connected to other public policy researchers in various specialty areas such as urban planning.
It was especially interesting to ask them about counter opinions and their research. They seem to take all research into account. ”

I only wish that the Cascade Policy Institute existed when I was in Oregon. Had [Cascade] and Steve Buckstein been around to educate me then, I wouldn’t have wasted so much of my and my viewers’ time, talking about the wrong threats.

I’ve come to understand just how fortunate you are having a premier free-market think tank like Cascade fighting for your rights and your liberty. I travel around the country and around the world. I meet with think tank leaders and analysts all the time, and I can say that no think tank is more committed, and none is more consistent in support of liberty than Cascade.
