I am a native Oregonian recently returned to the state for retirement. Prior to retirement, I worked in higher education in Idaho and Pennsylvania. Having enjoyed a strong commitment to individual liberty in both states, I was dismayed to read how the State of Oregon was treating individual business owners who operated their businesses based on constitutionally protected religious convictions. Having just received your lengthy appeal for support, before I consider supporting Cascade Policy Institute, I need to know how your organization viewed this attack on individual liberty and any support you may have provided. While I generally support the goals of CPI and applaud the changes you report having influenced, the crushing fines and unfair treatment of these (and those in Washington and Colorado) businesses is of great significance and deserve intervention from those who represent themselves as supporting greater liberty. I look forward to your response.
