Don't hate me because I own a business, own a home, and work hard. You see, the difference between us is that I actually produce whereas you and your TriMet buddies consume, consume, and consume, and then ask for more money from the taxpayers.

These numbers are not right, I am on this list and have never made this much money. Some amounts included here are from years ago when overtime was abundant and and other numbers are flat out ficticious.

tri-met operators deserve every penny- they have to deal with the same people the police interact with on a daily basis, suffer abuse from the general public, and are not allowed to defend themselves from physical harm without facing termination. why doesnt someone look at the average salary of train operators for BNSF? Do you have any idea how much pressure is involved with driving such a large vehicle? how many lives are you responsible for every day in your job (and no, not how many people do you supervise, but how many people can die if you have a bad day/make a mistake?)

I am a retired bus operator. I drove for 29 years. Sounds like a lot of money, doesn't it. But you must consider This is a union job, and we have fought hard and worked hard for what we get. People say all we do is sit and drive all day, (how can that be hard). As We all know traffic has astronomically increased over the 29 years of my employment. Common sense seems to be just a phrase in books, many new traffic signals, driveways, more elderly, pedestrians and teen drivers, more people driving faster cars, more trucks, more people driving without a license and insurance. Bus operators have to take all this into account, load passengers and drive safely, and try to keep, many times an unrealistic schedule.
Now after We have had our pay reduced in the past so tri met managers could increase theirs, tri met has tried again to turn the public against the operators to try and not honor their contract with their employees.
No one seems to remember why unions were created, it was to created a safe environment in which to work, to have a quality life by making enough money to to raise our families in the middle class.
