As “Revolting” as it is the more important question is how does the “Portland Development Commission” manage to continually snub their nose at the Oregon Constitution and not be called on it and stopped?

Where are the watch dogs of the process? Why has nothing been done? Who is to blame? We the voters?

Please elucidate and elaborate for “we” need to go after them and pull their credit card.

Something blatantly unconstitutional, and yet still openly being done? Hard to believe I know. Seems like this would be a no-brainer lawsuit, that would be settled quickly once the lawbreakers were publicly embarrassed.
Why this hasn’t happened already I don’t know, but I suspect somebody has already tried, and black-robed political hacks we call “judges” dismissed the case, or came out with some contorted logic to allow the unconstitutional activity to continue because it was passed by the legislature.

Am I a cynic? Yes. But in today’s political arena, politicians once elected seem to believe they may do everyone’s ‘business’ but that of the public.
Expecting elected lawmakers to act in the interest of the general welfare, rather than the good of those who grease the ways for reelection is hopelssly naive. “They” do nothing to protect the integrity of the state Constitution because there is no personal gain in doing that. Therefore, they ignore it.

Our political process pretty much guarantees a local political aspirant will never move upwards unless he proves himself amenable to helping his ‘friends’. If he is sufficiently astute to both help his friends and garner votes, he moves up the ladder. If they begin their career an honest and honorable person they will quickly end it by continuing to keep that character.

The overwhelming majority of politicians who successfully mount to top positions in state and national Govt are the ones who continue to do favors and promote the specific interests of the few at the expense of the many. If you expect any different result, you should change your brand of smokes.

We would obtain better and more honest Govt if we chose our lawmakers and leaders by a national lottery. Anyone without a criminal record, and an IQ of say, a minimum of 110 but not currently in an insane asylum may put their names in the hat. …in my humble opinion.
