Good account of what the real world environment. It is education that is required, Recycle Reuse and dispose of properly.
The radical environmentalists seem to knee jerk most issues, will lie and use outdated information with scare tactics, with old pictures to induce empathy, and passion. Research the issue and discover the truth as Todd has done, if you are not convinced, then check it out for yourself. There is no Texas size Island of plastic!
Hey Todd,
Returned from a Town Hall on the issue of banning the single use plastic bags. This is not about climate change or Agenda 21. Banning their use may be the only solution. I do not like the idea, but there is a major problem with these specific bags. They are not recycled, they clog up the recycle machines, they are ending up in our rivers and Oceans.
They do not decompose, but break down into pieces, fish are eating this stuff, animals are suffering at our expense. The cost to consumers will not be to great, and here in Oregon it may be a blessing as we have trees that can be made into paper, jobs maybe! I can reflect back when we did not have plastic bags and only paper. This is an adjustment we will have to make. Now where did I put that tote bag? CG912
Ah haaaaa, something just did not feel right, here is the problem

Plastic grocery bags were introduced thirty years ago. If plastic bags are such a huge problem for marine mammals and seabirds as the anti-plastic bag activists maintain, then there would be thousands of photographs by now.
The site posted, will give some second thoughts to re-thinking a ban.
Great article Todd! My issue with the movement to ban plastic bags is with their ideology. Plastic bags today, what next? As you alluded to, the anti-plastic bag movement would be better served to educate the public and change the culture. Their current campaign is doing a disservice to their cause by encouraging freedom loving people to answer the question at the grocery store, “would you like paper or plastic?” with an emphatic PLASTIC PLEASE!
Todd, your ignorance far outweighs your cognitive reasoning skills.
The crazy environmentalists are not advocating replacing plastic with paper.
They are advocating bio-degradable bags. You conveniently forgot to mention that
issue here.
Bio bags would actually help the environment and create more jobs in America.
As many countries have banned the bag and replaced with bio-bags, they have
seen far less litter issues and have a greatly reduced landfill toxicity issue.
Countries that have banned: Australia, Bangladesh, Ireland, Italy, South Africa
Taiwan. Mumbai. Actually, most of the EU uses bio-bags.
